"Small Town Hero" -- Glen Charles Ludban's story
Written 11/20/09
by Paula Bateman,
including poems from Robert Byanski,
Glen's Shipmate.
_____
In Garrett, Indiana, did our small town hero lived.
Glen always saw the truth and he did what he knew
was right back then.
He'd find the cost of freedom, no matter what that would bring.
We miss you Glen, you did your best, and you still are our king.
Chorus:
Vietnam was a time of strife,
it never was called a war.
They said we'd change the world
with all the rest we'd lost before.
You died at 22 years old back in '69,
You left us on June 30th, in Quang Tri, South Vietnam.
Robert Byanski is only authorized to disclose the part of "Small Town Hero" that reveals how
patriotic Ms. Bateman is in honoring her friend, and the son of Mrs. Ludban. The Ludban's and Bateman's were close neighbors.
Paula called Mrs. Ludban, "My second mother".
